Who Should Take CLF?
Everyone can benefit from learning the Cloud Practitioner material. Whether you should actually take the exam depends on your background:
- Complete beginners — Yes. CLF is designed for you. It teaches cloud concepts without assuming technical skills.
- Students — Yes. Low barrier to entry, validates foundational knowledge.
- Experienced developers / IT professionals — Learning the material is useful, but you may skip the exam and go directly to Associate level.
- Existing cloud professionals — You can skip CLF entirely. The material is review; the exam is optional.
Learning the material is valuable regardless of whether you take the certification.

Recommended Learning Path
Most people need three things to pass:
1. One Video Course
Video Courses
Free
AWS Skill Builder — Cloud Practitioner Essentials
Note
This course alone is not enough to pass. Use it alongside additional materials.
Andrew Brown / FreeCodeCamp (YouTube)
The 2024 refresh is the best free video resource available.
Andrew also has additional content on ExamPro.
Paid
Udemy Pricing
Udemy frequently discounts courses. Never pay more than USD 20. Open in incognito or follow authors on social media for coupon codes.
| Instructor | Link |
|---|---|
| Stephane Maarek | courses.datacumulus.com |
| Neil Davis | Udemy Course |
| Andrew Brown (ExamPro) | exampro.co |
Pick one — any of these is sufficient.
2. Additional Material
CAF — Cloud Adoption Framework
WAF — Well-Architected Framework
You need to know the pillars at a high level — not every detail.
Cheat Sheets (for revision only)
3. Practice Exams
Avoid Dumps
If someone offers the exact list of AWS questions or guarantees the question bank matches the real exam — that's a dump. Using them risks a ban. Stick to legitimate sources.
Free
Paid
| Provider | Notes |
|---|---|
| AWS Official Practice Exam | Skill Builder — free trial no longer available |
| TutorialsDojo | Highly recommended. Detailed explanations with review mode |
| Stephane Maarek (Udemy) | courses.datacumulus.com |
| Neil Davis (Udemy) | Practice Exams Course |
| ExamPro | 3 practice exams (1 free, 2 paid) |
| Whizlabs | whizlabs.com |
Not Recommended
A Cloud Guru / Pluralsight — their courses have fallen behind the competition.
